HUNTER RUN PLANNER
OSRS Birdhouse Calculator
Plan Hunter XP and seed spend from the birdhouse tier and number of runs you realistically complete in a day.
Plan completed runs, not timer cycles
A 50-minute fill timer describes when houses are ready, not how much Hunter XP an account earns every hour. Travel to Fossil Island, collecting supplies, school or work breaks, and logout time all affect the number of runs you actually complete. Enter a normal-day count for a repeatable budget; set it to zero on days you skip.
Choose seeds by cost and supply
Each trap requires 10 low-level or 5 high-level seeds; you can mix eligible seed types to reach the required count. The birdhouse reward is the same for either seed tier, so seed availability can matter more than the listed GE price, especially on an iron account. Seed drops from birdhouses can offset later costs, but this estimate deliberately does not assume a return.
Use Hunter XP as a route checkpoint
At level 75, a Magic birdhouse gives 3,876 Hunter XP per four-house run; two runs are 7,752 XP and use 40 high-level seeds. At 8 GP per seed, the conservative daily seed budget is 320 GP. The tool excludes construction XP, random nest contents and travel time so that each displayed amount has one clear meaning.
Compare alternative training honestly
Birdhouses are a short, delayed reward loop, not a full-time XP method. For a Hunter target, compare the XP gap and activity rates on the Hunter Calculator; for repeatable passive days, pair your route with the Farming Calculator. Do not compare their active XP/hour directly with daily birdhouse XP.
Suppose you complete two full four-house runs on each of 30 days, use Magic houses and spend 8 GP on each high-level seed. That is 60 runs, 232,560 Hunter XP (60 × 3,876), 1,200 seeds (60 × 4 × 5) and a conservative 9,600 GP seed budget. It is a routine budget, not a 30-day promise: missed days lower the result, while seed drops can reduce later purchases. The estimate does not count Construction XP from building replacement houses, the value of nests, transport or the time required for the active run.
Use the table as a placement-level reference: the level shown is when that birdhouse tier can be placed; crafting the house itself has its own requirement. Redwood placement requires level 90 Hunter. Check the current bird house trapping guide before planning around a tier unlock.
| Tier | Hunter level | Hunter XP / 4-house run |
|---|---|---|
| Regular birdhouse | 5 | 448 |
| Oak birdhouse | 15 | 672 |
| Willow birdhouse | 25 | 896 |
| Teak birdhouse | 35 | 1,120 |
| Maple birdhouse | 45 | 1,476 |
| Mahogany birdhouse | 50 | 1,920 |
| Yew birdhouse | 60 | 2,448 |
| Magic birdhouse | 75 | 3,876 |
| Redwood birdhouse | 90 | 4,800 |
XP values are the Hunter XP total for all four houses in one run. They do not include the separate Construction XP for building the houses. Redwood requires 90 Hunter; the table uses the level at which each birdhouse can be placed. Source: OSRS Wiki bird house table, reviewed 20 October 2026.
How often can I run birdhouses?
A house fills after roughly 50 minutes, but this planner asks how many four-house runs you expect to complete in a normal day. It does not assume you stay logged in or make a run every timer cycle.
How many seeds does a run use?
Each of four traps requires 10 low-level or 5 high-level seeds; eligible seed types can be mixed to reach the count. All seed types give the same birdhouse reward, so compare the cost and availability of the seeds you actually use.
Does this predict nest profit?
No. Nest rewards are random and include different contents with different values. This tool estimates Hunter XP and seed spend only; it does not turn an average nest value into guaranteed GP.
